COURSE DESCRIPTION
INTRODUCING THE WORLD
This course is designed to introduce the art of the social sciences to children by explaining simple sociological concepts and incorporating fun activities to understand our world on the societal level more. We will go over the general power structures in a country with emphasis on Egypt and discuss aspects of the Egyptian culture as a way to reflect on the vast cultural diversity in the country. Ultimately this course aims to encourage understanding and tolerance between children from a relatively young age and to spark their interests in the social sciences.
IT’S A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL
In this course your child will learn about geography in an interesting way! Each day we will discuss 3-4 countries from the 7 continents. We will cover each in details, regarding their culture, flag, folk songs, climate, and natural habitats. We will also make an arts and crafts activity at the end of each lesson. Your child will leave this course having insight on all parts of the world and the importance of customs and traditions. They will also be able to identify which country is in which continent and visit each country virtually through a video tour!
Materials needed: Pencil with eraser, paper, scissors, glue, stapler, colors, colored paper, straws or feathers, paint, water bottle, paper plate, paper cup, pom poms, potting soil, flower or flower seeds, printer.
TRAVEL THROUGH HISTORY
This all rounded course really sheds a light on the pivotal events that have evolved us homo sapiens to be where we are today, the course tackles essential landmarks of history such as the big bang, the agricultural revolution, and industrial revolution, providing the significance of each pillar of human development.
Materials needed: Pen and paper for various activities and note taking.
TRIVIA WORLD CUP
We will be using the application Kahoot! We can split the groups in teams with mixed aged groups or separate the age groups. We can hold two rounds and a “finale”. We can always do a girls vs boys for more fun. This course is more on the entertainment but will have a lot of History, Geography and general knowledge embedded in the questions
WORLD GEOGRAPHY FOR YOUNG EXPLORERS
This course will make learning geography fun. It will help young explorers discover today’s world with creative activities. It’s fast and engaging and will help kids quickly improve their geography skills. We will be working on flags, countries and their capitals. We will also have a fun fact about every country we go through.
